Oklahoma...we got a problem...

Well...my weekend in Oklahoma was definitely a memorable one. Let's see..

I get on the plane & sit next to...let's call him..chatter box Stan. He would not stop talking, asking where my "husband" was..obviously to figure out if I was single or not. A real smart man would have seen no ring on my left hand and left it at that. But not chatter box Stan..this continued after lift off..and after he offered to pay for my $5 teeny wine bottle...I decided to finally small talk back. Then I resumed reading my awesome book "Catching Fire" (which btw I have not been able to put down) every now and again chatter box Stan asks me, "How's the book?" as I continue to tell him "So good..." and sipping my expensive 4 oz drink he bought me.

As we land and get off the plane..we are escorted to a tornado shelter at the airport because the conditions have gotten really bad. I'm thinking to myself : "why the hell did we land if the conditions are so bad??!" Staci texts me and tells me she can't come pick me up because a tornado will be hitting Norman within the next 30 minutes. At this point, I'm officially freaking out. I'm in this "shelter" (a family bathroom) with none other than...yes...you guessed it..chatter box Stan. After being cooped up in there with him for an hour...I learned he was in the cow dating business...which means...what? Don't ask. Something to do with technology and seeing how cows react to products.

Finally, Staci calls and tells me they are coming to get me before the next storm comes in. I can't believe that I hadn't seen her in so long!! It was definitely worth the pretending to listen to chatter box Stan to see her and cute Baylee bug! We drive to her friends house and eat dinner and then end up going to a shelter.

When we woke up the next morning the mess the tornado left was insane! Houses without roofs, trees fallen on homes, and cars with huge objects that fell on top of them. Yes, people. I lived through a tornado. ;)

We decided to do something normal Saturday until the next storms came in and went to see Staci's fiance play baseball. He plays for OU and it was the most exciting thing we had done since I got there thanks to the weather. The game was fun and then Staci and I left and did some shopping for an hour or so. We came back, ate and waited for the next tornado. That night we did another shelter and ended up going to her friends house and have a much needed dinner. We had to set our alarms for 4 AM to wake up and go to another darn shelter. But when 4 AM hit..Staci let me know we didn't have to go because the storm took another turn...YAY - finally good news!

The next day we got to enjoy the beautiful day at the OU baseball game until I got reminded to check my flight status & i  found out my flight was not delayed but CANCELLED....great...But I took it as a sign from my dad telling me to enjoy the place where he lived for his college career and he sent me the most beautiful day. So I did just that for you pops :)

The next day, I enjoyed waking up to no rain, thunder and no more tornado talk. After such a short trip, Staci and Baylee drove me to the airport after exchanging goodbyes and hugs. I rushed to check in and to board this very much wanted flight to find I was lucky enough to have both seats on the plane to myself. My week was looking up. As I read 6 chapters of my amazing book, stretched my legs along with some slight turbulence..I knew this was the beginning of a wonderful week!

Even though I had some very low downs on this trip...I had the love of my friends to keep me going and I know for sure that I'm in the right place :) Sometimes you need these "bad" things to happen around you to realize exactly what you live for. Lesson learned. Have a great week my peeps!
